The value of a reference site is entirely in what it refuses to print. These are the rules, the source hierarchy, the licences, and the limits of what is here.

The rules

Primary source or nothing
Every figure traces to a named organisation with a working link. Government portals, legislation registries, company press releases and the databases of the IEA, IRENA and the World Bank rank above trade press, which ranks above analyst commentary.

Dated twice
Each figure carries the date its source published it and the date we retrieved it. A number without a vintage is not information.

Contested values are shown twice
Where official sources disagree — the UAE's 2050 figure is 15 Mt/yr on the government portal and 14.9 Mt/yr in the strategy document — both are printed with their attribution. We do not silently pick one.

Unverified is a label, not a gap to fill
Where a widely-repeated figure has no primary source, it is listed as unverified. A plausible number is never substituted for a missing one.

Model inputs are not targets
The 8.7 GW electrolysis figure is an input in the strategy's own modelling annex, not an announced commitment. Anything of this kind is labelled as such.

Status follows the sponsor's own wording
Announced, pre-FID, under construction and operational are distinct categories. Where press coverage blurs them, the category the source evidences is used, and the wording that establishes it is quoted.

Absences are findings
A country with no published strategy, a project with no disclosed capacity, an equity split nobody has released — each is recorded as such rather than estimated.

Corrections are public and dated
Errors are fixed in the open, in a dated log, never by silent edit.

Third-party data keeps its own licence. Ours does not override it.
